School Band
Learning to play a musical instrument and participating in a school band Wondall Heights State School offer our students a myriad of invaluable benefits. Firstly, it fosters discipline and commitment as students engage in regular practice sessions and rehearsals, honing their skills and persevering through challenges.
Music education also enhances cognitive abilities, promoting better concentration, problem-solving, and mathematical skills through the understanding of rhythm, patterns, and notes. Moreover, being part of a school band cultivates teamwork and social skills, teaching children the importance of collaboration, communication, and mutual respect while working towards a common goal. It boosts confidence and self-esteem as students showcase their talents during performances, experiencing a sense of achievement that further motivates their learning.
A Student Resource Scheme is operated for students who participate in Instrumental Music. This relates to the fee charged to students for their engagement in the program for the resources they are then provided with. If families choose not to participate in the scheme, they are responsible for the purchasing of all items required for their child.
Wondall Heights offers two Student Resource Scheme’s for Instrumental Music:
- Student Resource Scheme Instrumental Music participation- all students. This is the charge that applies to all students to participate in music/band arrangements. If this levy isn’t paid, parents are responsible for the resourcing of and purchasing of all items required in lessons/bands (students can’t use school items).
- Student Resource Scheme Inclusions for Instrumental Hire- for those who need to hire an instrument only. This is the hire fee that is chargeable to students who need to hire a school instrument for the year only. If you have your own instrument, this doesn’t need to be paid.
Choir
At Wondall Heights State School, our students have the wonderful opportunity to participate in three engaging choirs. These choirs delightfully contribute to school and community events throughout the year. These musical groups offer a chance for our students to explore their singing talents and share their love for music in various performances. Through these choirs, students learn the art of singing while also fostering teamwork and cooperation. Their participation in events outside the school not only adds to the vibrant atmosphere of our community gatherings but also provides a platform for our students to showcase their musical skills in a supportive environment.
