Happy Chappy Week

8/06/2016
Chappy Week
We recently celebrated Chappy Week at Wondall, a time to recognise the wonderful work Chaplains do in our schools. Across Queensland, Chaplains have over 18 000 formal conversations with parents, staff and students as a way of supporting and encouraging our school communities. With Chaplains in 2 200 schools, students have another positive role model that provides social, emotional and spiritual care and support.

Chappy Week, I believe, was a great success! I heard several stories of how the positive smiley face signs were a topic of conversation. Students excitedly told me that they had found and read all of them. There were quite a few to find! It was also good to see that the scavenger hunts were a source of fun, and our Chappy Breakfast on Friday morning was a lovely chance for students, staff and parents to chat over toast and cordial. Many thanks to those families who chose to pop a small donation into the collection tins – all money collected will be used to support Chaplaincy in our local area. If you would still like to make a donation for our Chaplains, please see the ladies in our school office – the collection tins are available there.

I can't thank enough all the staff, families, students and volunteers who supported and assisted in this year's Chappy Week. I can't wait to do it all again next year!

Also, the Wynnum-Manly Chaplaincy Committee is holding a fundraising dinner for our local chaplains. It is not too late to grab some friends and join us. Visit suqld.org.au/wynnym-manlygala or call 07 3906 7800 to pre-book. Please RSVP by Tuesday 7th June. Cost is $40 per person.

Lastly, thank you Wondall for your support of the Chaplaincy Service. Through your support students are being motivated and encouraged to see themselves in a positive way, giving them a sense of pride and worth.
